The objective of the Spanish Ministry of Economy, Industry and Competitiveness is to proposal and implementation of the Government's policy on economic issues, and to push for reforms aimed at improving competitiveness, scientific research, technological development and innovation in all sectors. It is also in charge of trade policy and support to companies, as well as other capacities and duties conferred by law.

This Ministry is organized into the following governing bodies:

  • The State Secretariat for Economy and Business Support, which will depends:
    • The Secretary General of the Treasury and Financial Policy, with the rank of Undersecretary of depende that the Directorate General of the Treasury.
    • The Directorate General of Economic Policy.
    • The Directorate General of macroeconomic analysis and international economy.
    • The Directorate General of Insurance.
  • The State Secretariat for Commerce, which will depends:
    • The Directorate General of International Trade and Investment.
    • The Directorate General of Domestic Trade.
  • The State Secretariat for Research, Development and Innovation, which will depends:
    • The General Secretariat of Science and Innovation, with rank of Undersecretary.
    • The Directorate General for Research, Development and Innovation.
  • General Secretariat of Industry and Small and Medium Enterprise, with the rank of Undersecretary of depende that the Directorate General of Industry and Small and Medium Enterprise.
  • Undersecretary of the Economy, Industry and Competitiveness, which depende of the General Technical Secretariat.
